Ripples and Leaves Please Do’s

This list is a short list of things we encourage everyone to do in addition to the code of conduct:

  1. It’s absolutely OK to be new. This event is a great opportunity to  learn. If you’re new, we encourage you to find a mentor, consider taking courses to fast track your learning, and read the helpful guides available here: https://www.ripplesandleaves.ca/guides

  2. Please plan to be independent. This means your needs for safety, food, shelter, etc. are fully covered without needing anything from anyone. If you are sharing something with someone, make careful plans in advance, and write them down so that everyone knows what to expect.

  3. Please settle up your share of the costs with the person who booked the site you’re on as soon as possible.

  4. Please do what you say you’re going to do, so you don’t surprise others and leave them scrambling to figure things out.

  5. If you are sick, or have been in close contact with someone who is sick, please consider sitting the event out.

  6. Please leave the site in better condition than you found it. Ensure there’s no trash, and as little sign you were even there as possible.

  7. Be respectful in terms of the amount of noise you make at your site, or in the woods. This is especially so at night. By 11pm, most people are settling or settled to sleep, so it’s important to be extra quiet.

  8. Please try to say hello to others at the event. We have a wonderful opportunity to help people feel welcomed and included. We have an opportunity to set aside the power dynamics from work, or society in general, and share our love of nature with other people.

  9. Please try to be proactive in the fun you have. Choose one of the existing events, workshops, activities, or if you don’t see something that’s your jam, propose something and invite others to join you. It is absolutely OK to do your own thing if that’s what you feel like too.

  10. You may have beliefs that are potentially hurtful to others. While you are welcome to think whatever you like, please set them aside when participating in this community. We are all peers and equals, and treat each other with mutual respect.
