Time to book for Freezing Woman 7
Freezing Woman 7 is a very popular annual group winter camping trip. It takes place in Algonquin Park each year. And 300+ people participate. See the report from Freezing Woman 6.
Freezing Woman offers a choose your own adventure menu of activities such as:
Long or short hikes
Presentations on adventure and conservation by incredible speakers
A mentorship program, where newcomers are paired with experienced winter campers
Skills development workshops, to learn important skills
A range of activities for all interests - a polar bear dip, photography walks, visits to the Algonquin Park museums, and much more
An electric community spirit, camaraderie, and welcoming atmosphere where we are all peers and equals
The choose your own adventure nature of Freezing Woman has been woven in since the beginning. If you’re feeling like something quiet, or in a small group - you’ll find it. If you want to do something strenuous to push your body, you can do that too. If you want high energy intensity, you can find that too. If you want to swap back and forth as your mood strikes you - no problem!
Keeping the event as accessible as possible has been a priority since the beginning. You can participate in Freezing Woman '“for free” - you’ll still travel to the park, pay your share of the campsite booking, and normal camping costs. Participants often car pool to further reduce costs.
AND, if you want to get even more out of Freezing Woman, and help support it, you can sign up for a membership on Patreon. The funds from this help support add-ons to make Freezing Woman even better each year such as:
The incredible speakers that come to Freezing Woman and share amazing presentations on adventures and conservation
The mentorship program, and help matching people to campsites based on energy level, wake up/ bed times, and interests
The kiln dried hardwood wood delivery service so you don’t have to stress about getting great wood that will burn well and keep you warm
The group warming tent, where anyone can go to warm up if needed
A marketplace to buy/sell/swap good quality gear, as well as artwork
Donations to good causes such as the Algonquin Wildlife Research Station, and a women’s shelter in a different region each year
A well moderated discussion forum away from hate, misinformation, spam, trolls, creeps, and other nonsense we often see on social media. The modest membership fee dramatically reduces the administration overhead to curate a wonderful space for participants.
